Give your OpenAI dot a social media scheduler

Dots are OpenAI's always-on agents in ChatGPT. They can't post to Instagram, TikTok or LinkedIn on their own. Add Postqued's MCP server as a ChatGPT plugin, give your dot access, and it can draft, schedule and send posts for approval in the background.

Short answer

Can an OpenAI dot schedule social media posts?

Only through a tool that can publish. OpenAI launched dots on 29 September 2026 at DevDay. Each dot works toward a goal in the background on its own cloud computer, uses the apps you connect, and messages you in ChatGPT, Slack or Teams when it needs a decision.

Dots are rolling out to ChatGPT Pro subscribers outside the EEA, Switzerland and the UK, and to Business Premium in all supported regions. The first dot is included in those plans.

Postqued is a social media scheduler for creators, small teams and agencies, from $9 a month. Its remote MCP server has 62 tools, and ChatGPT can add it as a custom plugin in developer mode.

Setup

How do I connect a dot to Postqued?

Adding the MCP server follows OpenAI's developer documentation. As of 1 October 2026, OpenAI has not documented whether a dot can use a custom plugin added in developer mode, so test it before you rely on it.

  • On ChatGPT desktop or web, open Settings, then Security and login, and turn on Developer mode.
  • Open ChatGPT Plugins, select the plus button, name it Postqued, and enter the public endpoint https://mcp.postqued.com/mcp.
  • Sign in to Postqued when the consent page opens and approve access.
  • Open your dot and give it access to the Postqued plugin.
  • Ask the dot to list your Postqued workspaces and accounts. If it returns real workspace names, it is using the plugin. If it describes Postqued in general terms, it is browsing the web instead.

A dot keeps working after you leave the chat, so set its rules to ask before taking action, and use a Postqued workspace with client approval turned on.

What can I ask a dot to do with Postqued?

A dot works through the same tools as the Postqued app, inside the workspace you choose. These goals map to Postqued's MCP tools for publishing, approvals and analytics.

  • Every Friday, draft next week's Instagram and LinkedIn posts from our blog and send them to me for approval.
  • Keep a TikTok post scheduled for every weekday and message me in Slack when the queue runs low.
  • When a client approves a post in Postqued, schedule it for the next open slot.
  • Each month, pull Instagram metrics and tell me which three posts did best.
What it can do

62 actions, the same ones your team uses.

The agent works inside your Postqued workspace. It sees the accounts you connected and nothing else.

Draft and schedule

Create posts for your connected accounts, set a time, reschedule, or cancel a target.

Send for approval

Create an approval post, revise it, and wait for a reviewer before anything is scheduled.

Use your media

Upload images and video, or reuse assets that are already in your content library.

Read analytics

Pull post metrics for a connected account so the next draft starts from what worked.

Handle comments

List new comments and reply, hide, or like them on the networks that support it.

Work across workspaces

Switch between client workspaces and see who can review in each one.

Control

You stay in charge of what gets published.

An agent that can post to your accounts needs limits. Postqued sets them on the server, so they hold no matter which assistant is connected.

  • Publishing is a dry run by default. A real publish needs an explicit request.
  • Sign-in uses scopes for read, write, publish, and admin. You approve them on the Postqued consent screen.
  • Approval workflows still apply. A post that needs a reviewer waits for one, unless the assistant acts as a team admin. Organization API keys act as a team admin, so use OAuth as an editor for a hard gate.
  • You can disconnect the assistant at any time from your Postqued account or from the assistant's connector settings.

Give OpenAI Dots a scheduler it can use.

Connect your social accounts in Postqued, add the MCP URL, and ask for a draft. Nothing goes live until you say so.

Questions about using Postqued with OpenAI Dots.

What can a dot do with Postqued while I'm offline?

It can draft posts from a brief, use media from your Postqued library, schedule posts, and send them to a reviewer. If your workspace requires approval, the posts wait in Postqued until someone approves them.

Who can use dots?

At launch on 29 September 2026, OpenAI offered dots to ChatGPT Pro subscribers outside the EEA, Switzerland and the UK, and to Business Premium subscribers in all supported regions. Check OpenAI's pages for current availability.

Can I use Postqued with ChatGPT without a dot?

Yes. The same plugin works in a normal ChatGPT chat with developer mode on. Custom MCP plugins are available on paid ChatGPT plans, not on Free.

Is Postqued an official OpenAI integration?

No. Postqued is not listed in OpenAI's connector directory. You add it yourself as a custom connector with the public MCP URL https://mcp.postqued.com/mcp, which is the route OpenAI documents for services outside its directory.

Do I need an API key?

Usually not. Postqued's MCP server supports OAuth with automatic client registration, so the assistant sends you to a Postqued sign-in and consent page. API keys are still available for clients that only accept a bearer token.

Which Postqued plan do I need?

MCP and API access are included on every paid Postqued plan, starting at $9 per month. The 7-day trial needs a card.

Can OpenAI Dots publish without asking me?

Only if you tell it to. The publish tool runs as a dry run unless the request says otherwise, and posts that need approval wait for a reviewer in Postqued unless the assistant acts as a team admin. Sign in through OAuth as an editor for a hard gate. OpenAI may also ask you to confirm tool calls on its side.
